The great Aussie bush

G’day, explorers!

Today, K traded the suburban footpaths for something much more exciting. We went on my very first bushwalk! K told me to put on my "adventure face" because we were heading deep into the gums. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as we stepped onto the trail, I knew this was my kind of place. It smelled like damp earth, eucalyptus, and—wait for it—wildlife.  The bush is like a giant, outdoor library, and I wanted to read every single "book" with my nose. I spent the first ten minutes sniffing a very interesting rock, and the next five investigating a hollow log. I’m naturally adventurous, so I wanted to lead the way, but K kept me on a short lead because apparently, some of the locals (like the blue-tongue lizards) don't want to play tag with a Cavoodle.

I did see a kookaburra sitting on a branch above us. He started laughing, and I gave him a cheeky little "woof" back just to let him know who was the boss of the trail. (Spoilers: It was me.)

How K Handled the Terrain

I’ll give K some credit—she looked like a proper hiker.

The trail got a bit steep and rocky at one point, and I was impressed at how she stayed so steady.

At the halfway point, we found a beautiful lookout. K reached into her Treat Pouch and gave me a reward for not trying to chase the kookaburra. It was a "vitally important" snack, let me tell you. Climbing hills is hungry work for a dog with legs as short as mine!

The Journey Home

By the time we got back to the car, my rust-coloured curls were decorated with a few stray leaves and a bit of dust. I was exhausted, but I felt like a true pioneer.

I think I’m going to like this bushwalking business. As long as K brings the Doganiser (and the treats inside it), I’m ready for any trail she can find.

Stay wild, mates!

Love, licks, and dusty paws,

Rusty Chief Inspiration Dog
