Salt, Sand and the Sea Monster
G'day, beach bums!
Summer is packing its bags here in Australia, so K and I decided we couldn't let the season end without one last trip to our favorite dog beach. If you’ve never seen a rust-colored Cavoodle hit the sand, imagine a very fluffy, very excited orange blur. That’s me.
The Sand-Zoomies
The second my paws hit the sand, I lost my mind. It’s a medical condition K calls "The Sand-Zoomies." I did three victory laps around her legs, narrowly avoided a very confused seagull, and dug a hole that I’m fairly certain reached all the way to the other side of the world.
I’m adventurous, but I’ll be honest—the ocean is a bit of a mystery to me. One minute it’s over there, and the next minute it’s trying to tickle my toes! I spent a good ten minutes barking at a particularly stubborn wave. I think I won the argument, because it eventually went back out to sea.
A Cheeky Trade
While K was busy taking photos of the sunset, I spotted a family having a picnic nearby. Now, I’m a loyal dog, but for a piece of crusty bread? My loyalty is... flexible.
I gave them my "I’m just a poor, hungry island castaway" look. Just as I was about to secure a snack, K caught me. She didn’t even have to say a word; she just reached for the Doganiser on her hip and she had a much healthier treat out of her Treat Pouch before I could even say "bon appétit" to the strangers.
The Sunset Slurp
By the time the sun started dipping into the ocean, I was a salty, sandy mess. My curls were twice their normal size, and I had a beard made entirely of seafoam.
K sat down on a log, we sat there together, watching the sky turn the same colour as my fur. It was a 10/10 moment.
Going Home (The Crunchy Way)
I might have brought half the beach home in my fur, and I definitely tried to shake all the water off right next to K’s clean car seats (oops!), but it was the best end to summer I could ask for.
Summer might be ending, but with K and my gear by my side, I know the autumn adventures are going to be just as wag-worthy.
Love, licks, and salty whiskers,
